"Friday, March 9, 1973 O OUNTY AQENT'$ NOTES If you plan to harvest grain "from oats or wheat and have not el,ready moved cattle off, do so as son .as possible. Yzu must supply plenty of nitrogen for high grain yield. Use 611 to 70 pound,s of actual nitrogen per acre between March 10 and Mardh 2{). If you planted a short, stiff-straw variety, you can go up to 10) pounds to the acre. If the small grains are to be harves.ted for hay, silage, o,r grain, weed control is important. Wild onions or garlic in a grain sample will reduce prices 10 to 15 cents a bushel. The presence , of these weeds in hay or silage will reduce feed value. Wild onion,s and garlic are best controlled by mixing one .pint of 2,4-D and one pint of 2,4,5-T in 15 to 20 gallons ,of wate,r per acre. These herbicides ca.n be applied if air tempera- tures are ,abo, ve 60 degrees after the small .grain has tillered and % ..... The Woodville Republican, Woodviile, Mississippi by John J.
