Twenty one percent of eligible students donated blood. This generosity of Wilkin- son County students made the blood drive an over- whelming success and boasted a three percent increase over the blood drive held in the spring of 2014. According to Colonel (retired) Glen Sutton, the primary focus of the drive was to encourage previous donors to become life long donors while also attempting to recruit new donors. "It was en- couraging to see our young people volunteering to donate blood and give the gift of life." Sutton fur- ther stated that over 90% of the previous donors returned to give blood, validating the research that the majority of first time donors between 16 and 20 years of age become lifetime donors. The Wilkinson County High School Junior ROTC Program currently has a host of outstanding young cadets who are lifelong donors: Lieutenant Colonel Savanna Sanchez, Major MerRondarius Groom, Captain Stephan Perry, First Lieutenant Alexis Tolliver, Second Lieutenant Taylor Robin- son, Command Sergeant Major Kandice Whitfield, First Sergeant Joshua Williams, Staff Sergeant Leo Andrews, and Corporal Isaiah Gaines. A spe- cial thanks is given to the local Cattle Association for its continuous support in providing breakfast and snack items for each JROTC sponsored blood drive. The next drive is tentatively scheduled for April, 2015. --- Submitted Photos WCES MUFFINS FOR MOM PROGRAM PUBLIC NOTICE The OLD RIVER WATER ASSO- CIATION, INC., Wilkinson County, Wilkinson County ]~le- teer in their child's classroom Mississippi, intends to make appli- mentary School he]d a "Muf- or around campus. cation to the MISSISSIPPI STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, BU: J~-tS for Moms" program on "I am always encouraging REAU OF PUBLIC WATER SUPPLY Tuesday, January 27.
