Perhaps it is good to review 2014 a little here in my last colunm of the year and see how we did. Encana's stated 2014 goals were primarily to first allow for a more extended study of the production curve for TMS wells and proving of the geol- ogy of the play. Secondarily, improving the consistency of the drilling and completion process, along with a related reduction in costs to produce TMS wells was also a part of the goals. Goodrich echoed these goals. According to my count there have been 49 wells spud (drilling started) in 2014 in a wide area of the TMS. By county/parish I total 22 in Amite County, 17 in Willdn- son, 7 in Tangipahoa Parish, and 1 each in West Feliciana, East Feliciana and St. Helena parishes. By company in 2014, Go- odrich spud 20, Encana 16, Halcon 10, Sanchez 3 and Comstock 1. The Encana Lyons 35H- 2 in Amite County was first on January 12, 2014, and the last known was the Goodrich B-Nez 43H-1 in Tangipahoa Parish on December 17, 2014. It is possible the B-Nez 43H- 2, also in Tangipahoa Parish, will be spud before the end of December. It is also possible a Goodrich offset from the C'res- by 12H-1 well in Willdnson County will be spud before the end of December. Rounding, 50 wells will be spud in the TMSin 2014. That's a tripling of the wells drilled in the modern era in what is the recognized TMS area east of the Mississippi River. There are roughly 75 wells that have been spud here since 2007. As of October, 2014, the last month with a full report of production in the TMS, the average daffy production was 10,550 barrels of off per day. At least 15 wells spud to- date were not producing dur- ing October, though several have been brought since then. Moreover, the last several wells brought into production have been consistently much better than earlier wells in the play. It is easy to imagine aver- age daffy production in the TMS will grow to over 20,000 barrels of oil per day before actual and planned withdraw- al of rigs from the play fully makes its impact. During 2014 there were at least five coring studies spread across the play, mean- ing intensive studies of the oil saturation content in the TMS structure along with de- tailed information as to the geology of the structure were conducted. So, have the goals been ac- complished? Yes. Much of the TMS has been proven to be prolific; the de- cline curve has had time to show it is acceptable; much has been learned about how to get it; and costs, while still high, have been showing signs of coming in line.., mainly through improvements in drilling and related comple- tion improvements. Many believe a wider northJsouth span on the play will also be found to be worth producing over time, but the proven core ofreughly 70 miles in length covering most of the southern 12 miles of Amite and Wilkinson counties, then curving southeasterly toward and into Washington Parish is without much doubt. This area and areas bordering this core wiJl likely be the focus of near term drilling. There are more things to learn to move the play along, of course, not the least of which is how far apart wells can be placed, but until oil prices rise back to the $80+ level these studies/'unprove- ments will have to be saved for another day. While we wait, here is the current status of preproduc- tion wells: Drilling or Moving on: Wilkinson, Sanchez Macedo- nia 1H, 2H and 4H; Amite, Encana Reese 16H-l, Encana McIntosh 15H-1, Encana Lawson 25-13H-1; Tangipa- boa, Goodrich Kinchen 58H- 1, B-Nez 43H-1 and 2.
